The Next Five Years

I often feel like my life began after I moved to Colorado from Texas five years ago.
Taylor and I at Mesa Verde in May 2006.

Just now, I made a list of subjects and personal experiences that I can write about and hopefully sell to various magazines and other publications, and without fail they all took place when I lived in Colorado or during my odyssey to Colorado.

Don't get me wrong, I lived quite a full life in the years before Colorado - raising my children on various ranches across Texas, owning a newspaper, opening a coffeehouse. But I wrote about those things back then, and I guess my inspiration there was spent. I am also a different woman now, and it's hard for me to relate to the person I was back then.

Anyway, I am starting this new year off with plenty of hope and faith that the next five years will be just as fulfilling, memorable, fun and print-worthy as the past five. I am also launching into a new adventure in writing and hoping to make a living at it again. I need this creativity. It's what I was born to do. And so it's time to pursue it again for real.

But writing is also a habit that must be exercised. After many months of left-brain thinking, I need to get the right-side up and functioning again. I must use it and use it often.

Maybe some of you would like to help me in this process. Here are some of my writing subjects. Let me know if you'd like to read about any of them, and I will get started! The final products will be posted here on my blog.
